Post 2 - Technical Difficulties - We all know that technology can fail when we need it most, so let’s start by sharing our worst experience with technology. You know, the time the computer crashed, resulting in the loss of all the final exam grades. Or the time the projector failed during your very first student teaching lesson. We all have had times when technology let us down. Please take a few minutes to share your “favorite.” Then please respond to two or three of your classmate’s stories, so that we can all get to know each other a little better (do this by clicking on Reply). If you happen to notice a story that nobody has yet commented on, please add your own response.

Hi! I’m Fran Lo, your instructor for Just in Time PD, and I’m excited that we’re going to be working together. Both of the examples I gave above have happened to me. And then there was the time I had written an entire unit plan, complete with objectives, assessments, activities, but I'd been on a roll and hadn't saved it yet. This was in the days before Word saved your work automatically every 5 minutes. And that's when the power went out...
You may know me as a teacher trainer and middle school English teacher at St. Bernard School. But I’ve been helping adults deal with computers for decades, first as a Computer Operator back in college, then as a Systems Analyst and a Manager, and even as a consultant to small businesses. I’ve also taken many online classes, so I know what makes a good class (and also what to avoid!) And I've been adding online elements to my English classes for several years, so I'm quite familiar with teaching online. Finally, besides my MBA (Computer Applications) and Master of Arts in Teaching, I’m earning a certificate in Elearning and Online Teaching from the University of Wisconsin, Stout. You can tell I love being a lifelong learner.
When I’m not glued to my laptop, I’m the mom of two adult children who make flying visits. I also have a secret vice - murder mysteries - so I recently devoured the Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series. Besides that, I’ve been enjoying my computing-while-traveling experience while camping in our popup with my husband and spaniel-mix dog. Any recommendations about what camper we should move up to next? Fortunately, many campgrounds have wifi (and when they don’t, I use public libraries and Panera), so I don’t have to give up staying connected. And speaking of staying connected, I’m looking forward to working with you. Can’t wait to get to know you better.
