Posting to Edline

Page history last edited by Fran Lo 13 years, 8 months ago

Objective:

  • Learners will communicate student progress on individual tests and assignments by posting grades to Edline regularly.

Background

Once you've entered your grades in Gradequick your job is only half done. Parents and students still can't see the grades, so you need to post the grades to Edline. Many teachers do this every time they enter grades.

Activities

Here's a video that shows how to post to Edline; click here and then on the arrow. Following are the detailed instructions:

  1. Within one class in GradeQuick:lick on Reports, then Edline Reports, then Single Term Only. You’ll see what the report looks like for one of the students.
  2. Then click on Print (top left of screen).
  3. You then have a choice: if you’re doing a whole class, click next to Select All Students of Current File.
  4. You have other choices if you want to just post one student or a few students. Send Several Files will give you a choice of all classes (see more below). When you are asked which students you want to choose, click on Select All
  5. Click on OK.
  6. Don’t change the class ID. Under Enter Report Description, click in the blank space. I find it easiest to enter the words Progress Report and then press Send this report. Next time, click in the blank space, and Progress Report will show – click on that, then on Send this report. Some people like to have different names for each report, but this isn’t necessary.
  7. Edline will launch a webpage, and you’ll eventually get a message there about how many records were updated. Wait for this to display before doing anything further in GradeQuick.
  8. To post for another class, go back to GradeQuick, click on the red X in the top right corner to close that report, and select the new class.

Here's a quick way to post to Edline for all your classes at once.

  1. Within one class in GradeQuick:
  2. Click on Reports, then Edline Reports, then Single Term Only. You’ll see what the report looks like for one of the students.
  3. Then click on Print (top left of screen).
  4. You then have a choice: click on Send Several Files. You'll be given a list of classes, so double-click on each one (you'll see it move over to the right). Then you'll be asked which students and you'll Select All.
  7. Edline will launch an Internet page, and you’ll eventually get a message about how many records were updated. Wait for this to display before doing anything further in GradeQuick.
  8. To enter additional grades, click on the red X in the top right corner to close that report, and select the new class.( That red X just closes the report; it doesn't close Gradequick).

If you’re not sure when you last posted to Edline, go to the class Edline page and click on the Progress Reports folder. If you click on one of the student names you’ll see the report and the date it was sent.

Now assess yourself . Do you post your grades to Edline at least every two weeks? (If I do it often enough it becomes second nature.) Finally,  take a few minutes to reflect on your experiences helps cement them more clearly in your memory. If you had difficulties, post that in the Discussion Forum (or Technical Difficulties Forum if you had serious problems).
